DESIGN & MARKETING MANAGER

Greensgrow | Philadelphia, PA

Manage brand for non-profit organization with two locations focused on urban farming, education, local food, gardening and sustainable practices. Responsible for design, photography, production, writing/editing and budget of marketing material to maintain a cohesive and dynamic mission-based brand including: website; email marketing and weekly enewsletters; print, digital and social media advertisements; letterhead, packaging, brochures, signage, posters, postcards, t-shirts, vehicle wraps. Source merchandising & retail materials with an eye towards sustainability.

Staff photographer; photography for marketing materials, social media and events.

Maintain custom WordPress website; writing, editing, photography, graphics in WordPress. Project leader for website redesign and mobile conversion; site map, created and delegated content development, art directed design and development. Managed 3rd party website for Farm Share membership management.

Manage social media outlets; create content, schedule, manage community, direct interns and staff contributors on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

Events; Promote and assist in planning and budgeting of fundraisers, events and workshops. Developed workshops; developed on trend topics and content, recruited instructors.

Oversaw the overall quality of all visual materials for an innovatively published & designed line of products.

Developed new book formats and gift products, and innovated materials.

Design & Art Direction: Responsible for the visual concept and design of 8–10 books and gift products per year, the art direction of an additional 8–10 books and gift products per year. Chose, budgeted and art directed designers, illustrators, photographers, photo researchers.

Department Director: Managed a department of two designers, plus interns. Budgeting, tracking schedules and art direction for the list of 34 titles per year, custom publishing, 2 catalogs per year, marketing materials. Worked with the Associate Publisher to streamline company processes and tracking.

Design liason to Chronicle Books (the distributor of Quirk Books) and Quirk Packaging (the packaged book division).

Leader of the weekly “cover” meeting; represented the design department, presenting cover designs from concept through approval to key company personnel.

Design & art direction; Responsible for the creation of 12 books and 2 catalogs per year. Created the visual concept of the covers and interiors. Hired, budgeted, and art directed illustrators and photographers. Managed in-house, sub-contractor and licensor schedules and deadlines on several simultaneous projects.
